Apothecary - S. Cardam
Semen Cardamoni is the dried seeds of Elettaria cardamonum, an aromatic imported from India and used to prepare volatile and fixed oils. This was used as a flavoring agent, aromatic, stomachic and carminative.
This jar is handpainted using underglazes on porcelain. The design is consistent with those found on 19th century apothecary jars. The terminology used is what would have been found on apothecary jars of the era.
